Benissa is a quiet delightful small town.
First of all Benissa has a well preserved old quarter and a beautiful Church known as the Cathedral of the Marina Alta. Most days the tourist office organize free guided walking tours. Naturally, it’s a beautiful coastal town too. The beaches and bays with their cristal clear waters are calm, peaceful, for example the sandy beach of La Fustera. As well as savage coves Cala Pinets, Cala La Llobella, Cala Abogat, Cala Baladrar, Cap Blanc.
In the same time, the local area offers a rich variety of sports and leisure activities. There is a riding school, and a nine golf course in San Jaime. The little harbour of Les Bassetes offers a lot of water sports and diving courses.
Festivals
Variety of Festivals all around the year : beginning of January with the traditional Fira i Porrat de Sant Antoni. In April, there is the most important festival in honour of Purissima Xiqueta. Next are the festivals of “Moros and Christianos ” in june. And in the summer, every week-end, in various rural divisions, the people organize popular fiestas. Where you will enjoy with your family or friends dinners outside with typic products, dances, and strings of firecrackers.
Between countryside and seaside
The natural environment of Benissa makes it perfect for day trips in the midst of nature. The mountains of Solana, Olta, Malla Verda and the Bernia mountain range surround Benissa. They are considered an ideal setting for hill-walking. In addition, the flourishing groves of olive and almond trees cover the surrounding countryside.
Also the town of Benissa has 40km of coastline full of natural attractions, with cliffs and pine groves surround the tranquil coves.
