COSTA BLANCA : DISCOVER THE FAMOUS MARKET OF JALON
Jalón (Xaló in Valencian language) is a charming village located in the lands about 15 minutes from the village of Benissa , in the north of Costa Blanca. Every Saturday morning from 8 am to 1:30 pm is celebrated a market very touristic located in “el paraje del azud”.
It’s a real pleasure to go there. The village of Jalón is very lively on market days. There are a lot of bars, restaurants, shops of all kinds. Also you will discover cooperatives where to taste and to buy the wines of the region. The prices of Moscatel, or typical white wines are very interesting.
The Jalon’s market brings together stands of all kinds. From antiques, fossils and stones, Spanish furniture, paintings, dishes, books, objects of all kinds, ceramics, clothes, even plants …. Among the sellers are residents of any nationality. You can buy local antiques like typical British dishes!
Once the market is over, you can visit one of the many restaurants in the village or its surroundings to sample the traditional local cuisine. For example, a dish of baked rice, a paella, or grilled meat. You can also go to a delicatessen in the village to buy the “embutidos” (sausages) typical of the region of Jalon.
Finally, it is essential to discover the countryside around Jalon. There are magnificent mountains which surround the plains. You will enjoy the beautiful landscape of olive trees, orange groves, vineyards, raisins and almonds. If you have time, don´t hesitate to discover the villages of Lliber, Alcalali, Parcent or the tourist town of Calpe. The scenery is superb and sure, you will not regret going there!
